Happy New Year 2010
So we are all getting ready to celebrate the New Year 2010, as 2009 is drawing to a close. I personally am getting ready for my big night out, to bring in 2010 with a bang, so have prepared my party clothes, champagne on ice and am ready to go. And I have a feeling that tonight is going to be a good night as I love fireworks and will be close to the London eye which promises to bring a display that will be worth standing out in... I was amazed to have woken up today with the news that Gordon Brown, the Prime Minister of UK had lighted candles at 10 Downing Street today to mark the start of the Diwali celebrations this weekend. I heard it on the radio, and, at first I thought it was a publicity stunt, by our PM who is so desperate to hold on to power, that it was another "spin" by the labour party in order to secure... I have tears dripping down as I write this article; somehow, writing is bringing me a sense of relief as I fight the tears back. I question why I am so emotional when I had never met MJ, or shall I say never had the privilege of meeting a music legend, but was he not more, I keep thinking and asking myself this question. The statutory dispute resolution procedures that had been introduced in 2004 have now been revoked by the Employment Rights Act, 2006. Some may say, well so what? The truth is these procedures where introduced with the sole intent to help employers deal with workplace disputes in a more dignified and swift fashion.
